Pet Brag Book...

Thursday, September 4, 2014

A friends birthday is next week and so I had some fun last night making this little pet brag book. She has 1 dog and 2 cats.

To make this book I used free scrapbook elements from Salt Town Studio - I used the Must Love Dogs and Must Love Cats Journal Cards - they come in large sizes and you can resize them, and they also come in square so that is what I used as background paper, and I used the Must Love Dogs and Must Love Cats Word Art. I also added some charms to the spine of the book, and some binder clips that she can use. And cut a few tags out.

Anything Goes challenge...

Monday, August 18, 2014

I love to watch art videos and lately I am hooked on watching very talented artists making greeting cards with a variety of techniques. When I saw that Simon Says Stamp was holding an "Anything Goes" challenge I thought I would give it a try... you can find the challenge here.

Now I have very little card making supplies, so took me a few hours to decide what would work. lol I used my only 3 colors of distress ink that I own (must get more one day soon... love it), and 1 of only 2 stamp sets I own. I need to start picking up more supplies soon... I had fun making this!

This card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, and was created on Strathmore Mixed Media Velum Surface 140 lb paper. I used Tim Holtz distress ink pads in 3 colors: Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint and Tea Dye. I used my square paper punch, and a butterfly stamp from a set I got at Wal-Mart, unfortunately I don't know the name, I didn't keep the packaging. I also used my Martha Stewart score board to make the outer card as I didn't have any on hand.

The colors in the top image are the closest to the actual card.

Travel Journal: IRELAND

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

A co-worker left to go to a new job and as a goodbye present I made her this travel journal, she will be spending some time in Ireland this year...

The cover is cardboard that I revealed the corrugated cardboard around the edges of Ireland, I then glued a piece of map scrapbook in the shape of Ireland on to it. Ireland is on the part of the map but not clearly visible. Just thought it would be cool. Then used a piece of chain split in two to dangle to charms.

Travel themed stickers.

A few tags.

Small tags

Project life printable journaling cards from the internet.

A few extra envelopes for saving small items.
The paper clips on the pages were just holding the glue and can be
removed and used somewhere else in the journal.

Paper Bag Album...

Sunday, March 16, 2014

I went on a trip to British Columbia this week, I'll share those pictures soon hopefully. But the night I came home I had this sudden urge to craft something. And I went downstairs into my craft area and suddenly I wanted to make an album. I worked on a bit Thursday and a bit Friday!

I took some work in progress shots along the way for anyone who would like to make one for themselves. It takes a bit of time, but is not that hard. And once you do one the rest are easier.

I am not sure what I am going to do with it just yet, but will share when I fill it up one day!

You can see more of my paper bag albums and mini albums here! Be warned, making albums is addictive lol

I use the normal lunch bags from your grocery store... Michael's also sells nicer bags in a variety of different colors.

I use 5 bags only, that is plenty, you could even use 3 or 4 if you wanted a smaller album for an occasion.

Cut off a bit of the bottom so that both ends are open, this way you can use the ends as pockets and fill with more pull out pages. Then fold the pages in half. And I also alternate which side the end goes on, just something I like to do, it's not necessary!

I like to use a very simple pamphlet stitch (See the how to here), but do a search, there are so many fun stitches you can do. I leave the ribbon long so I can decorate the spine later if I choose.

Then choose 20 papers. I chose spring colors! Top row are patterned papers, bottom row are card stock! You could also use art paper to make it into an art journal.

2 for the cover and 18 for the inside pages. I like my 2 pages facing each other to match but it is not necessary! I then inserted them in with scotch double sided tape, you could also use tape runner, or glue.

They look really nice when they match!
